- Queensland Coastal Plan

The Queensland Coastal Plan, approved under the Coastal Protection and Management Act 1995 and the Sustainable Planning Act 2009, is now in effect. Changes have been made to the Plan since the public release in April 2011.
- Coastal management districts

New coastal management districts have been declared under the Coastal Protection and Management Act 1995. The new coastal management districts are effective from 3 February 2012.
- Repealed state and regional management plans

The Queensland Coastal Plan replaces the former state and regional management plans.
- Reef Water Quality Protection Plan

The Queensland and Australian Governments have developed the Reef Water Quality Protection Plan to protect the Reef from land-based sources of diffuse pollution.

Wave rider buoys transmit the wave heights measured from Queensland wave recording sites to radio receivers at shore stations.
