Native forest and quarry resources

DERM Forest Products, the department’s commercial forestry business unit, manages native forest timber production and the sale of quarry materials from State forests, timber reserves and other State-controlled lands across Queensland under the Forestry Act 1959 (PDF)*.

The business unit also administers permits for apiary sites and stock grazing on designated areas of State forest.

Forest Product's business goal is to maximise financial returns to the state from the management of native forest products and quarry materials on State lands (PDF, 95K)*, within environmental and community expectations. Its primary customers are timber processors and quarry operators

The unit works in partnership with its key industry, community and government stakeholders to ensure the responsible management and efficient use of Queensland’s native forest and quarry resources for present and future generations.
