Environment and Resource Management

Community role

The department and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service involve the community to help protect and manage our environment.

Nature refuges are voluntary conservation agreements between landholders and QPWS to protect areas of significant conservation value.

NatureAssist is a financial incentives scheme designed to encourage and assist private land conservation in Queensland.

Volunteers across the state assist on a variety of projects which retain, restore and improve our environment. Read more on becoming a volunteer.

Contact us for further information through the General Nature Refuges Program, NatureAssist, the department Customer Service Centre or view relevant information sheets.
